Ryan McGinnis is an Instructional Technology Professional Development Specialist with Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming BOCES based in Olean, New York. Ryan began this role in 2017, after serving as an Elementary Principal for two years and as a classroom teacher for the previous ten years. In his extra time, Ryan also works for insight2execution, a Microsoft Global Training Partner conducting sessions for educators worldwide on Microsoft products and Minecraft EDU.

Ryan earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2005. He earned his Master's Degree in Adolescent Literacy and Technology from Walden University in 2013. He attained his Pennsylvania Principal Certificate from Gannon University in early 2015. Ryan is also an Apple Certified Teacher, a Microsoft Innovative Educator & Trainer, a Wakelet Ambassador, a CodeBreaker EDU Ambassador and is very active on Twitter championing for new and exciting uses of technology in education.

Ryan's philosophy on technology education involves the belief that technology is not a replacement for classroom instruction or interaction, but rather a way to evolve and prop-up those mainstay pillars of education. Technology in the classroom should be purposeful, with a focus on enriching the educational activities in the classroom, rather than just replacing what is currently being done. Ryan supports this philosophy by conducting research and hosting workshops that focus on bringing technology tools to the forefront of the classroom, and making educational technology accessible to everyone, regardless of experience in working with these technologies before.

In addition to being a dedicated technology enthusiast, Ryan is also a loving and devoted father to his two kids, Kennedy (5) and Conor (2). He is happily married to his soulmate and a fellow educator, Lisa, and they just recently celebrated 10 years of marriage. Ryan enjoys golfing, playing tennis, playing with his children, sharing a love of technology with everyone, and helping others in need.
